Vertical Earth is assembling a specialty crew that will be focused on spotting utilities in the field for damage
prevention. This crew will rely on utility plans, utility locate marks, hydrovac exaction, and hand digging to visually
spot and then record the precise location of utilities. When necessary, this crew will also assist with traffic control.
Key Responsibilities:
– Travel to different jobsites to assist with utility damage prevention
– Operation and maintenance of hydrovac equipment
– Exposing buried utilities by hand digging
– Identifying buried utilities by facility type and owner
– Mapping location and elevations of buried utilities
– Assist with traffic control as needed
– Must maintain at all times a strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
– Manage specialty potholing crew
Requirements:
– Experience running and maintaining hydrovac equipment
– Ability to manage a crew of 2-3 workers
– May require CDL depending on equipment
– Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 20 lbs. regularly.
– Must be able to work with a shovel for long periods of time throughout the day. Shovel work can require
handling from 10 lbs. to 30 lbs. on a regular basis.
– Ability to execute a plan and achieve objectives without constant supervision
– Must possess a professional attitude while interacting with peers, contractors and general public.
– Ability to work in various weather conditions
– Ability to stand for long periods of time
– Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
– Ability to pass drug screen
Preferred Skills:
– Familiarity with various types of underground utilities and locating methods
– Experience with traffic control/flagging
– Ability to read transportation and civil plans
– Experience with field use of GPS rover
