Summary:

The Pipe/Utility Superintendent performs the supervision of construction crew activities to assure optimum productivity and construction compliance. This position supervises the layout, assembly and installation of various sizes and types of utility pipes, and studies project specifications to plan sequencing and installation.

Key Responsibilities:

Tasks could include, but not be limited to

  • Coordinates and supervises daily activities of a laborers/crew
  • Uses heavy equipment to excavate, install and backfill drainage pipe
  • Sequences pipe installation to reduce inference with other project activities and the public
  • Continually inspects work site, surveying for potential hazards or safety concerns
  • Responsible for crew safety and establishes safe work environment that complies with the Company safety program
  • Observes assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions. Assures the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Analyzes job cost reports to ensure production is within budget.
  • Perform various tasks at job site with equipment provided
  • Complete and approve weekly time card related to assigned job
  • Meet job completion deadlines
  • Keep work area neat and clean
  • Produce a high quality of work
  • Maintain a good attendance record
  • Observe Company policies and procedures
  • Observe Company safety rules and regulations
  • Present a positive attitude about the Company and the job and maintains professional relationship with Owner
Desired Skills/Physical Requirements:

Physical requirements could include, but not be limited to

  • Must be able to safely climb on and off heavy equipment
  • Must be able to operate heavy equipment
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Operate light equipment
  • Load/unload construction materials

Skill requirements include, but not limited to

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Ability to read plans
  • Good communication skills
  • Team Player
  • Previous experience directing other employees and organizing work
  • Ability to comprehend and complete instructions given by supervisor
